Steve Burke, 65, of Largo, FL, passed away on 12/28/2023. He was born in 1958 in Minnesota to Barbara Burke and LaVerne Burke. Steve is survived by Cassandra Burke (wife), his siblings Char (Ken) Fagerlind and Tammy (Rick) Johnson, nieces, and nephews (Chris, Travis, Nicole, Paige, and Jessica).
Twenty-eight years ago, Steve began his lifelong career as a Sr. Maintenance Technician and HVAC Mechanic at Bayfront Medical Center and retired at USF. He was a high achiever, risk-taker and a warrior/survivor of critical illnesses during his lifetime. Steve often said, “I live life on a wing and a prayer. Just do it!”
He loved working on cars and attending car shows. Laughter and telling jokes that I never understood, but other people did was Steve’s way. His pastimes were football, basketball, tennis, and softball. However, Steve had a zeal for golf, skiing, and boxing. He often spoke about winning the welterweight golden glove boxing, softball championships and the Florida Ski Council NASTAR race.
One of Steve's goals in life was for people to remember him as a decent and caring human being. He accomplished that goal. Steve was a kind-hearted, trust-worthy, friendly, honorable person and a wonderful husband that enriched my life more than I can express in words.
