Stan Boles was born August 19 1949 in Three Rivers, Michigan and died March 14 2019 in Sand Key, Florida. He is survived by his wife Dee, daughter Heather, brother Bob, Aunt Edith, niece Val and nephew Brent. He is also survived by loving friends throughout the nation and abroad whom he cherished like family.
Stan grew up in Dowagiac, Michigan and enjoyed wonderful years there playing football and basketball and socializing with all the other kids. He reminisced often about the great times they had. He graduated from Dowagiac High School and Western Michigan University and received his Master’s Degree from Indiana University.
In November 1974 he met Dee Park. According to his roommate at the time, after his first date with Dee he reported back “That is the girl I’m going to marry”. They had a December wedding in 1975. Christmas was Stan’s favorite time of year. Their only child, Heather, was born the next summer.
Stan spent 39 years teaching Government, Economics, History and about every Social Science. He was esteemed by his colleagues and loved and respected by his students. He coached High School football for many years and former players still came to see him until the end of his life.
In 1986 the U.S. State Department named Stan and his wife Fulbright Scholar/Teachers and they were sent to London for over a year to teach students there. It was the first time in Fulbright history that both husband and wife were awarded that honor.
Stan and Dee traveled extensively over their 44-year marriage and Stan made friends wherever he was. He adored Heather and Dee and his dogs Bucky and Edward.
We all mourn the loss of a wonderful man. We will miss his sense of humor, his nicknames for everyone and his passion for life.
His favorite charity was Saint Josephs Indian School, Chamberlain School, SD 57325.
Memorial Services will be Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 2pm at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL, 727-562-2080.
