Rita E. Sullivan

Age 92 of Largo, Florida, formerly from Calumet City, Illinois passed away on Monday, April 17th, 2023. She was born on April 26,1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Ralph & Mary Catherine Zandstra. She was a loving wife to her husband John (Jack) L. Sullivan for 63 years, and a devoted and supportive mother of nine children. Rita touched so many lives with her presence, and all her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph & Mary Catherine Zandstra, husband John (Jack), daughters Mary & Maureen, son Thomas, and her sister Charlene. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Patrick) McPolin, Patricia (Robert) Mitchell, Michael (Debbie) Sullivan, Jean (Michael) Ciesynski, John (Lisa) Sullivan, and Timothy Sullivan, along with 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.

Rita was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church and sang in their funeral choir. A funeral mass will be said for her on Wednesday, May 17th, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, 820 Jasmine Way, Clearwater, Florida with Inurnment at Calvary Cemetery, Clearwater, Florida.

For many years, Rita passionately ran the food drive in her residential neighborhood and was so proud and thrilled with the amount of food and cash donations they collected multiple times each year. Due to her enthusiasm and the generosity of her neighbors, the food drive continues to grow.
