Pat was born in 1930 in Detroit, Michigan as “Patricia Anne Turner”, she grew up with her mother, Rhea and her sister, Francis. As a child, Pat attended a Catholic school and was often seen playing in a tomboy like fashion with the neighborhood boys. In her adult life, Pat deepened her love for religion, and began her passion of befriending and supporting priests. While she turned down many suitors, it was when she met Arthur Deegan that she was swept into a love that would last a lifetime. Patricia and Arthur got married in the Detroit Cathedral in 1957. The two would be married 64 years before she passed. Upon their move to Florida, Patricia designed her family’s home which still sits proudly as one of the only original houses left on Island Way in Clearwater Beach. Patricia had three children – Kathleen, Timothy, and Maureen (who later married Rick Ramirez) and two grandchildren – Ryan and Mariah. She became known as a friend to all, and the belle of any party she went to, including the many she hosted, thanks to her excellent dancing and endless charm. In her community, Patricia was famous for her hospitality, generosity, and countless selfless deeds she did for everyone she met. She has many accomplishments, including being the 1976 City of Clearwater Citizen of the Year, receiving the Sertoma Service to Mankind Award, serving on the Diocesan Board of Catholic Charities, receiving one of the first St Brendan medals from the Women’s Guild, and serving on the Island Estates Homeowners’ Association Board of Directors. Patricia’s passion for her church, community, friends, and family was evident in every aspect of her life. Friends who wish to send a donation are encouraged to send one in Pat’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
