She was born on January 25, 1930 to Beatrice (Beemer) Ziegenhine and George Ziegenhine at home in Erie, PA. She was the third of eight siblings.
In 1948 her first job after high school was as a telephone operator, where she worked until 1958. Mary Ann married Edwin James Paschke on August 26, 1949. They lived and worked on a farm in North East, PA, where the main crops were peaches, cherries and concord grapes. In addition to raising 5 children, Mary Ann continued to work on the farm and as a telephone operator and later as a waitress.
In the 1960s hoping to improve their standard of living for their children, they opened a casual restaurant and later a 24 unit motel with a more formal dining room at one of the exits on interstate 90 in North East. It was a family run business with all of the children involved.
In the 1970s Mary Ann and Edwin began living half of the year in Florida. They lived in Hernando county where they ran a small grove. They eventually moved to Pinellas in the 2000’s.
After almost 57 years of marriage Edwin passed away on June 21, 2006. Shortly thereafter their daughter Joy moved in with her.
Mary Ann spent a life of hard work in family enterprises and spent free time enjoying her family and traveling when the opportunities arose. There were many camping trips with grandchildren. She was a woman of strong faith and her family is confident she is at peace and is being welcomed into heaven by her loved ones that have gone before her.
