Tia Lourdes, I will always remember the beautiful and generous person you were. Although heaven gained an angel, you will forever remain in our hearts. You served as a role model for the family, always cheerful, ready to help others, and give of yourself and your time. Please watch over us. I rest assured that we will one day all be together again. Until we meet again may God embrace you in his loving arms.

There are so many memories of Tia Lourdes that I have and will cherish. This picture is when Tony and her came to visit me in the hospital after I had my first born Sophia. I thought it was  so amazing that they wanted to see their nephew/godsons first born. I have known Tia Lourdes more then half my life and and even though I am not blood she always made me feel like I was. She was my Tia by marriage. Thanksgivings, Christmas, birthday parties, St. Anthony Feast, helping with my wedding , bbq and swimming in her back yard in Elizabeth. She was always there cooking laughing and telling stories. She was always there helping whoever she could. I admired most her faith, she always had faith. She believed in something higher and knew she would see her parents again one day, I just wish she wasn’t taken so soon, but since you were Lourdes please give your parents a big hug and watch over everyone. 
To all our family here we have another angel up there and she will always be protecting and guiding us on this journey. 
We will miss you so much and we love you Lourdes. 

Lou, I can’t believe I have to write these words. You’re my big sister and always took care of us growing up from making sure to get us to school during some really rough times to making sure we were in front of the house before dad got home everyday! You always made sure things were taken care and never hesitated to help your loved ones. When Bela and I got married you took the lead without hesitation with all the wedding details and preparations which helped us in more ways than you know. I will never forget how happy you were to help me prepare for our engagement too! You had a natural gift to bring laughter everywhere you went and make everyone feel welcomed.  None of us will ever forget that. God works in mysterious ways and I am forever grateful I was able to spend time with you when I went to Florida and speak to you on your birthday. I will cherish our memories for the rest of my days and even though I’ve never been a man of too many words know that I’ve always loved you and always will.  Rest peacefully forever and do me a favor and give mom and dad a hug for me. All my love, your brother Joey

I shall remember her as one who was always ready to help.  St. Anthony feast committee and PASA has lost a valued friend.  She will watch over you from Heaven.

My grandmother spent her life working tirelessly for her family. She took on the roles of daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother…. She touched everyone she met. Every time we saw her she brought with her a story about an old friend, a new friend, a friend from St. Anthony’s feast, one from her Portuguese club, and everything in between. She got to know everyone wherever she ended up, and always made an impression.

I’ve been struggling to understand how someone I saw as so strong could just be gone now. In my mind, nothing could ever hurt her.

My grandma and I were a lot a like, and I’ve tried to think of what I’d might want if I were her. I keep hearing her voice pop into my head - “Eh, what are you gonna do?” and “You should have appetizers at the service. Tony, get Amanda some chorizo!” and “Oh, Breanna should sing!”. I think she would have wanted to be celebrated, and I hope that’s what everyone does - celebrate her.

My grandma was tough as nails, but would let her grandkids get away with anything. She was funny, fearless, and talented. She would have laid down her life for any one of her loved ones.

I hope for joy to come to her family when thinking of the full life that she lived. I hope that her memory is kept alive for her youngest grandkids - Stella and Lorenzo. I hope that I never stop hearing her voice in the back of my head. I hope that I make her proud.

Grandma, I know that you’re watching over me, and I will always keep you in my heart. I love you.

The last time I was able to see my grandmother was on my birthday in 2021. Before that we hadn’t seen each other for a while but even so, it never changed how we interacted. I’ve spent so much time with her as a child and less time as an adult. Instead of having the regrets of not spending more time, I have the happy memories of the moments I was able to spend with my wonderful grandma. She’d always go above and beyond for me and our whole family. It’s hard to believe she’s gone and I can’t even think it really is true. My heart is shattered because I thought we’d have more time together and I could visit her. We can always meet again in heaven and I’ll always love you grandma. Love Julian.

Tia Lourdes, you are without a doubt irreplaceable! My childhood memories are filled with such joy in which you helped create;  shared holidays amongst the family, summer days spent at your house, the St. Anthony’s feast, and the list goes on. The fact that you were outspoken, strong and a family woman are just some of the traits I respected most about you.  Chris and I are so incredibly thankful we were able to have such a special moment with you and Tio at our wedding. We can only pray that we have as many years as you and Tio shared together! You will be forever missed and loved. Please watch over us always and give grandma and grandpa our love! Rest peacefully my beautiful Tia!

I really enjoyed every meal Lourdes prepared at the Portuguese Club (PASA).  She worked very hard to please everyone.  I was in charge of prepping desserts, and Lourdes really knew how to make delicious desserts. Loved the apple turnovers and her decorative fruit platters. Even after preparing dinners, she still found time to make desserts.  She will be missed.  

It's hard to say goodbye to my grandmother. It's still surreal to even think she's gone. I just wish I could have seen her one last time. I wish I could come home to see my family as well during this hardship. She and my grandfather were the only ones to take me in when I was homeless and I could never thank them enough for all they've done and given me. I hope she rests well and God takes good care of her.

Every time we saw you or spoke on the phone, we always laughed. Thank you for all the love and memories. We will cherish them forever.

Dear Lourdes;   You were a GREAT grandmother and I'm EXTREMELY grateful for the time you gave our daughters throughout the years.. You were an inspiration to them in many ways, you showed them how to be strong  NO MATTER  what  others thought.. You were also an awesome mother-in-law with an amazing heart underneath armor.  Thanks for our memories and an amazing daughter!!!   You'll be missed.....Love You Frankie
