John was born in Montpelier, New York, to John and Emma. He joined the U.S. Navy after high school and was a sonar operator on a diesel submarine. Following his service, he enrolled in Cornell University in Syracuse, New York, where he received his mechanical engineering degree. He went to work for Amana and was one of the teams that created the first round-shaped air-conditioning condensing units. Later he was involved in the commercial and industrial vinyl-coated steel application industry. He married Virginia in 1971 and raised two boys in Bloomingdale IL. Later, in 1997, he married Sandra Lazar.
John had a passion for golfing, playing cards, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed a great Manhattan and good bottle of wine. He was jovial and made friends easily.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald. He is survived by his wife, his sons, stepsons, and four grandchildren. A gathering will be held on Wednesday, December 7th, 2022, from 11am to 12pm. A funeral service will follow at 12 o’clock.
