HUEBNER, Joann, 85 of Seminole, Florida passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017. Joann is survived by her husband Bill of 66 years and daughters Lynn and Carol. She was born in Witt, Illinois, lived in the suburbs of Chicago and moved to Florida in 1973. Joann took up tennis in her 40’s and actively played at clubs and on leagues throughout Pinellas County. As a member for the past 20 years of Bardmoor Tennis Club, she captained the Bardmoor III PADL women’s team that went on to win the league championship for 2001 – 2002. She also played on the team that captured the 2004 USTA inaugural Florida Super 70 Doubles Women’s 3.5 league championship held in Daytona, FL.
Although tennis was her passion, her daughters were her life. The three of them were inseparable. They spent precious and countless hours together, walking the trail at Walsingham Park, the beach, shopping, going to Busch Gardens and Disney World and otherwise simply being the best of friends. When others were thinking of retirement, she took modeling lessons from her daughter, Carol. The two toured for Beall’s Department stores on the west coast of Florida with a modeling troupe and performed in fashion shows as mother and daughter. She also worked as a petite model for various stores and the Southern Women’s Shows in Orlando for 6 years.
Joann had a deep and abiding compassion for nature and was known to have “Adopted” and befriended many birds along the way. Her two favorite cardinals, Sydney and Steffi would actually respond to her call and join her on her walks through the park.
She was an active, loving, giving, beautiful person who always put her family first, who cherished her friends and who will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
