Teresa Ann Kress, aged 51, of Lansing passed away at home on April 20, 2021. A private family Celebration of Life will take place later this spring. There will also be a Nightingale Ceremony held to honor Teresa’s years of dedication as an extraordinary caregiver, neonatal intensive care nurse, and fierce nurse’s union advocate. Date pending.
Teresa was born April 15,1970 in Saint Johns, MI to Ronald and Sharon Miller (Thompson) and graduated from Fowler High School in 1988. Teresa’s profession as a nurse was her passion. She worked on the neonatal intensive care unit at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, and the stories of the children and families she touched are endless. She loved her job and her colleagues were like family. Teresa held many titles in her life: nurse, environmental advocate, musician, daughter, wife, mother, sister, friend - but her favorite was title was Gigi. She loved being a grandmother and that love was reciprocated by her two grandchildren.
Teresa married the love of her life, Michael Kress, in 2003. The two of them shared a love of many varied musical genres, the outdoors, camping, and traveling to music festivals. If you ever attended the Bliss or Wheatland festivals you would most certainly have encountered Teresa in one of her well-known beautiful skirts, drumming or dancing the night away.
Teresa is survived by parents Ronald and Sharon Miller, husband Michael Kress, daughter Ashley (Larry) Grissom, stepson, Elijah Kress, sisters Lisa (Dave) Warnke and Sherry (Ed) Barrett, grandchildren Amelia and Owen Grissom, in-laws John B. and Marlene Kress, Monica (David) McGovern, Suzanne (Patrick) Dailey, Margaret (Jared) Dell, and David (Rochelle) Kress, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Teresa was preceded in death by her grandmothers Betty Miller and Dorothy Thompson, great-grandmother Onalee Mar, and grandfathers Gordon Miller and Leslie Thompson.
She will be sorely missed.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.grlansing.com for the Kress family.
