Born February 18, 1949 to Robert “Bob” and Anna May Epps, Sandy was the fourth of seven children. She was a kind and gentle soul and loved her family fiercely. Known to most of her family as Aunt Sam, her nieces and nephews were the light of her life and she doted on them as often as she could. She never missed a birthday, anniversary, or major life event.
Sandy was also known for her love of animals. She never met a stray pet she didn’t take in and care for. It was often said her animals ate before she did.
Sandy was a creature of comfort, she preferred a good pair of jeans and comfy flannel, a warm snuggle with the little humans in her life, a great cup of coffee, but not too hot, and a big slice of lemon pie.
Sandy worked for Suits News for many years before taking a job with Dart Container, where she retired from in 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters Linda Gray and Carolyn Thurlby, and Nephew Lloyd Thurlby.
She is survived by her brother Robert “Bobby” (Claris) Epps of Lansing, MI; sister Christine “Chris” (Roger) Robinson of Charlotte, MI; brother Terry (Diane) Epps of Coldwater, MI; sister Laura “Laurie” (Jeffrey) Keener of Lansing, MI; numerous nieces and nephews, and of course her trusty K-9 companion Lilly.
In Lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Sandy’s name to the Capital Area humane Society located at 7095 West Grand River Avenue. Lansing, MI 48906.
