Ron graduated from Eastern High School in 1952 and went on to join the U.S Army in February of 1953 and serving in the Korean War earning a National Defense Service Medal. He then married the love of his life, Darlene, on October 5, 1956. The two were married for 62 years until her passing.
Ron worked for General Motors and the Local 652 - UAW for 44 years. He then later retired to Nevins Lake where he enjoyed many years of lake life and playing euchre with special friends at the American Legion. He cooked for years at the VFW in Sheridan. He coached and umpired softball in Lansing for numerous years as well as bowled with the local 724 league at Pro Bowl. Ron loved his family and his time spent with them. He will forever be the best dad and grandpa.
Ron is preceded in death by his loving wife, Darlene Haruska; and his parents John and Edna Mae Haruska.
Ron is survived by his children, Shawn Vilella, John and Sherry Haruska, Lynn Phinney; siblings, Edna Mae Hubbard (Babe) and Judy Carrick; many grand and great grandchildren; and many special friends.
A visitation for Ronald will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Followed by a service at 12:30 PM at Gorsline Runciman Tiffany Chapel, 3232 West Saginaw Street, Lansing, MI 48917.
After the committal at Chapel Hill Cemetery, a luncheon will take place at VFW post 701, 123 N Rosemary St Lansing, MI 48917 at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Legion Post 783 Stanton, MI 48888 - Euchre Club.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Phinney, Alex Phinney, Chris Haruska, Jason Haruska, Matt Vilella and Tom Vilella.
