After he graduated from the Bellville and Fredericktown school systems, he enrolled at Cincinnati Christian University in the fall of 1947. A.B. May 1951, Master of Arts 1954, Bachelor of Arts (Ministerial) May 1951, Lansing Community College, May 1990. While in graduate school he taught at undergraduate level in the English Department. He was ordained to the gospel ministry at his home congregation, the Palmyra Church of Christ on July 24, 1949.
On June 8, 1952 he married Marilyn McDaniel from Flora, Illinois. They met as students at the Bible College. They became a family of four with the arrival of daughter Nannette in 1959 and a son Brian in 1962.
For 53 years the Fishers served in New Testament congregations in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. In 1971 Mr. Fisher was called by the trustees of Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing to serve as Professor of Theology, and Greek. He acted in that capacity until his retirement in 2001. During his 30 year function as professor he taught a full load of curricular classes, served as college counselor, directed the college Missions Club, and led the schools faith promise program.
Mr. and Mrs. Fisher took several missions trips to Canada(2), Egypt, France and the Yucatan in Mexico (2).
Mr. Fisher was preceded in death by his parents & sister Thelma Ammerman. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, a daughter Nannette Fox (Rick) of Saranac, Michigan, a son Brian Fisher (Wendy) of Grand Ledge, Michigan. Two surviving brothers, John Fisher (Margaret) of Washington DC. and George Fisher (Kathy) of Bradington, Florida. Three grandchildren Cameron
