Roger D. Cornell, 80, of Lansing, Michigan passed away December 16, 2013. He was born February 10, 1933 to the late Floyd and Geneva (VanPutten) Cornell in Wyoming, Michigan. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Roger was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was known as a talented handyman and belonged to the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Local 845.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lois Donahue. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Delores “Dee” Cornell; son, Rick (Donna) Gibbs; daughter, Sandra (Stuart) Vealey; son, Michael (Kimberly) Gibbs; son, Scott (Rae) Cornell; brother, Douglas (Audrey) Cornell; sister, Ruthie Metcalf; and brother-in-law, Claude Donahue. Sincere gratitude is extended to the Breslin Cancer Center and “his girls” for their wonderful care.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, Michigan 48912. The service will be officiated by Pastor Cindy Skutar of Grand Ledge United Methodist Church. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at the Lansing Chapel.
