A lifelong resident of Lansing, he was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Robert E. Westcot.
Bob was a salt-of-the-earth kind of guy, generous to a fault, very kind, and a friend to many. He attended Waverly High School and studied criminal justice with every intention of becoming a police officer, but the job he held as a teenager, working for Meijer propelled him into staying on with Meijer as a truck driver for over 40 years. Bob cherished his co-workers at Meijer, many who became lifelong friends.
Bob had a great love for animals, especially beagles, and always had a canine companion or two at his side. He enjoyed reading, was politically conservative and intelligent, able to discourse on a wide variety of subjects from current events to the chronicle of Marvel superheroes. Once into the smartphone era, Bob delighted in sharing ridiculous YouTube videos which he found so highly amusing.
Bob was a great dad to his son, Alex Westcot and step-children, Heather and Charles Wright, and his former spouse, Brandy Westcot, considered him her dearest friend. Bob never missed any of the kids' many softball, basketball, hockey, and football games which they played throughout their elementary and high school years. He had a great artistic talent which he passed on to Alex. Bob was also a member of St. Therese Catholic Church of Lansing.
Bob will be so sorely missed by his many friends, children, former spouse, brothers, Richard and David Westcot of Lansing, and his two precious, young grandsons, Griffin (age 4), and Maxwell (2 weeks).
A funeral service for Robert will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM, with a 2-hour visitation prior from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Tiffany Chapel, 3232 W Saginaw St., Lansing, MI 48917.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to the Michigan Humane Society in Robert Westcot’s name.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.tiffanyfuneralhome.com for the Westcot family.
