Was born November 18, 1924 in Ludlow, Pennsylvania and went to his eternal home in heaven August 6, 2021.
Bob’s hobbies were hunting, golf, and bowling, but his favorite hobby was giving hugs and spreading joy. Bob always said his claim to fame was when he helped build the St. Louis Arch when he worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron.
He was married to Catherine for 52 years until her passing and God in His great grace blessed Bob with a lovely wife (Erika) for the next 16 years of his life.
Bob and Catherine’s daughter, son-in-law, and grandson brought them from Warren, Pennsylvania to Lansing in 1990. It was here that Bob volunteered at Sparrow Hospice House, Sparrow Hospital, Lansing Ophthalmology, and The Lending Center at M.S.U.
The job he loved the most was being a greeter at First Assembly of God of Greater Lansing. Bob was very proud of his grandson and always strived to be the best grandpa by trying his hardest to attend every one of his grandsons sporting events. So as you can imagine he was extremely pleased to find out he would be great grandfather.
Bob is survived by his wife Erika of Lansing, daughter Sheryl (Donn) Szostak of Lansing, grandson Jonathan (AnnMarie) Szostak, great grandchildren Kaye and Cole of Dewitt, sister Joyce Reinard of Kane Pennsylvania, Step-sons Anima (Maani) Nwankwo and their three children, Dr. Chike (Rachel) and their three children, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Bertha Larson, his first wife Catherine, and eight brothers and sisters.
Bob never met a stranger. He was known for his hugs, always smiling, and brought smiles to people’s faces by singing “You are my Sunshine”.
Bob committed his life to Christ at age 14 and lived a life faithfully to Him until the end of his days. His greatest passion in life was his love for Christ.
Although we have the pain and sorrow of losing a father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, and friend, we have the faith in knowing where he is and that he is renewed in Christ. So with that we welcome all that knew him as we have a celebration of his life, not for what we have lost but for what Heaven has gained.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
