Age 45, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013. Manuel was born September 30, 1967 to Manuel S. De La Garza Sr. and Mary Alice Villegas De La Garza in Lansing, MI. Manny was a self-employed contractor, known as the “HMIC” (Head Mexican in Charge). He had the ability to captivate an audience with his greatly embellished stories; he certainly was our own comedy connection. Manny had a love for fishing, and owning the pool tables, earning him the nickname “Mosconi”. Manny had a great love for his family, and his beloved pet dog Spanky. Manny was preceded in death by his father. Surviving are his mother; brother, Jose (Shelly) Zavala; sisters, Tamie Lynne, Loretta (Ricardo) Ruiz, Sylvia, Yolanda (Terry Wilkes), Alicia (Jose) Ortiz, Emily and Esther Rodea; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, 102 W. Randolph, Lansing with Rev John Fain presiding. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave and at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Monday. A Rosary will be prayed Sunday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
