September 28, 1950 – March 17, 2022
Kevin Daniel O’Donnell, aka 007 Kevin from Heaven, left this earthly place just in time to attend the Saint Patrick’s Day party being thrown by his brother, Tim, in Heaven. Chances are Kevin got to meet a lot of long lost family there, including his grandfather OD O’Donnell, father William O’Donnell, mother Beatrice O’Donnell and brothers Timothy and Patrick O’Donnell, in addition to countless cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. Kevin came from an Irish Catholic family, after all.
Kevin started life as the fourth son (out of five) born to Bill and Bea. Kevin enjoyed the chaotic life of a family with five boys who all attended Resurrection School in Lansing, Michigan. For work, Kevin sorted the mail, earned $1.20 an hour flipping burgers at McDonalds, worked for MSU, took care of patients as a doctor at Ingham Medical Hospital, and was a member of Heaven’s Secret Service, regularly running interference for God and saving souls.
Kevin enjoyed photography and chronicled many family events with his camera, and sent the photos to everyone in the family. Kevin loved music but he enjoyed the music of the Beach Boys most of all. He loved Detroit Sports, especially the Tigers, Red Wings, and the Lions, as well as, MSU Spartan basketball and football. He also loved watching true crime TV and playing the lottery (but not the ones with the letters on them).
Kevin enjoyed a good joke and enjoyed having fun with his family at Sunday Dinners and holiday gatherings (especially St. Patrick’s Day) in his younger days. Kevin was a kind man and often helped strangers even when he himself did not have the financial resources to comfortably do so. Kevin had many friends and was very proud of the accomplishments of his daughter and granddaughters.
Kevin is survived by his daughter Rachel and four granddaughters, Sage, Noelle, Maya, and Zohara, two brothers, Shawn (Jill) O’Donnell, Michael (Laurie) O’Donnell, and sister Bridget O’Donnell. Nieces Jessica O’Donnell, Chelsea (Steve) Phillips, and Colleen (Steve) Egleston, nephews Mark (Angie) O’Donnell, Shawn (Daisy) O’Donnell, Brian O’Donnell and Dennis O’Donnell. He also leaves many grand nieces and nephews: Courtney, Carley, Alex, Raven, Luna, Aurora, Lilli, Declan, Ellie, Aubrea, and Timmy.
May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
