She was born in Hancock, Michigan, daughter of Roy Pakkala and Bernice Pakkala. Joyce enjoyed golfing, working her crossword puzzles, reading books, and petting her grand-puppies. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and will be remembered for teaching unconditional love and true meaning of Sisu. She never missed any opportunity to attend any family gathering or event for her children or grandchildren. Joyce retired from the State of Michigan in 2002.
She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Tina (Rich) Dietrich, Diane (Dan) Hopkins, son, Dale Parham; grandchildren, Joseph Riojas, Melyssa Riojas, Gretchen (Erin) Grabski, Rick Dietrich; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda D. Blaine (Parham); grandson, Thomas Riojas; and her parents.
A private service was held for the family on 3/10/2023.

The family will host a Celebration of Life on Sunday March 12, 2023 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at the American Legion, 731 N Clinton Street, Grand Ledge, MI 48837. Light refreshments will be served.
