Josephine Marie Smith

Josephine was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and raised four children. Her faith, her marriage, and her children were the center of her life. She loved gardening and oil painting but her greatest passion was feeding people good food. She will be remembered by all who knew her for the feasts, loaves of bread, pies, jams, relishes, and cookies she so generously prepared and shared.

Her days began and ended with prayer. She offered her prayers for her family and their intentions, her friends and their intentions, the Church, our country, and the world. It was a great comfort to her children to be able to ask for her prayers in times of illness, grief, and hope.

Josephine is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Ernest R. Smith Sr, and her son, Ernest R Smith Jr. She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Mester of Lower Burrell, PA, her three daughters Arlene Smith, Debra Sauer, and Diane Smith, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Josephine will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM with a Rosary prayed at 6:30PM, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Church of the Resurrection, 1527 E Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912 with visitation held one hour prior to mass starting at 10:00AM.

In lieu of flowers the family would much appreciate donations be made in her name to the St Vincent De Paul Society Food Bank of the Church of the Resurrection in Lansing, MI.
