On December 12, 1969, Larry married the love of his life, Glenna Kay Whitbeck, in their hometown of Lansing, Michigan at Pilgrim Congregational Church. Their bond was one of unwavering love and support, creating a foundation of strength and happiness throughout their lives together.
A proud alumnus of Michigan State University, Larry remained connected to his alma mater throughout his life, embodying the spirit of the Spartan community with pride and passion.
For 35 years, Larry devoted himself to the students of Williamston Community Schools, leaving an indelible mark on generations of learners. As an English teacher, he shared his passion for literature and language with students in 7th, 8th, and high school, nurturing their intellects and igniting their imaginations. His dedication extended beyond the classroom as he served as a wrestling coach, instilling in his athletes the values of hard work, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Larry was a prolific author, penning 13 books.
Larry was survived by his sons: Kevin (Linda) Whitbeck and Rick (Ellen) Whitbeck; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Glenna Kay Webb; son: Randy (Dawn) Whitbeck; and siblings: Mary Hathaway and Barb Spitzley.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 25 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave. Lansing, MI 48912. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 26 at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Larry Webb.
