Gaetano (Guy) Victor Verderese passed away peacefully at home at the age of 92. He was a resident of Lansing Michigan raised by Italian immigrant parents, Pasquale (Patsi) and Antonia Verderese. He was the youngest of five. His siblings were Dom, Ort (Pavona), Frank, and Rose (Magistro).
He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou (Ludy) Hurth. Together they raised their four children, Pat, Kathy (John Parker), Guy, and Dave.
Fondly known as Tany to many, he was very charismatic and an avid sports fan... especially cheering for Lions football.
He understood his responsibility to his family and spent many years building a successful beer and wine business as co-owner of Verderese Distributing before retiring after suffering a stroke.
He and Ludy were blessed to have a home both in Michigan as well as Florida and enjoyed a northern cottage for a time. They enjoyed cruising and travel abroad. Tany loved nurturing his relationships with the Italian cousins.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of seventy-one years, he longed to join her. After eight months in Hospice Care at home it is with bittersweet tears we bid farewell. He will be missed by many; most of all his children, ten grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to Sparrow Hospice, especially our angels Karen and Kristina. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Sparrow Hospice.
