Jerry was born May 23, 1929 in Lansing, Michigan to Paul Elmer and Dorothy Eva (Reynolds) Dillingham, passed away October 2, 2014. Mr. Dillingham was in the U.S. Navy and proudly served as a member of the Construction Battalion of the SeaBees.
Returning to Lansing in 1948 he married Margaret Sargeant, and they had and raised their 4 children there together. For his career path Gerald followed in the footsteps of his father and worked as an Electrician for General Motors, retiring in 1994 after 44 years of loyal service. In mid-life he took up the game of golf and became an avid golfer, forming many lasting friendships along the way, and picking up the nickname "Ole Jer".
For the last 24 years his loving companion and dance partner, Susie Oliver has been by his side, enjoying trips and cruises together but also the many little things that make life meaningful. He loved to dance.
Surviving are his daughter, Sheryl Chaffee; 3 sons, Jerry (Joanne), Steven (Beverly) and Jeffrey Dillingham; 4 grandchildren, Sean (Kara Bolin) Dillingham, Kaycee (Travis) Thayer, Benjamin Dillingham, and Ryan Dillingham; 3 great-grandchildren, Exely Dillingham, Carter and Harley Thayer. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth; sister Dolores Knop.
Visitation is from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Monday with Services 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 6, in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Military Honors will be provided by V.F.W.
