Charles Boynton Schroeder, 88, great son, husband and father, has passed away. Born December 7, 1925 in Lansing, Charles attended Eastern High School and joined the Navy in WWII and served as a Medic. He married his sweetheart, Irma Lewis, after the war. Chuck’s professional life was in the insurance industry, wrapping up his career with 20 years at Hasting Mutual Insurance. He was a football trainer for Charlotte High School in the early ‘70s, an advisor for the Explorer Post 45, a Mason, and he belonged to the Charlotte Rotary. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward and Larry; and wife, Irma. Chuck loved crossword puzzles, reading, and building boat models. Chuck loved people and was always joking and teasing someone. Chuck was remarried in 1981 to Joyce (Swan) Bissell and they lived happily in Okemos, and later in Traverse City and Tucson. Surviving Chuck are his wife, Joyce; children: Patty Lohman (John), Lisa Hoffrichter (Charles), Matthew Schroeder (Jennifer), Gary Bissell, Jim Bissell (Linda), Greg Bissell, and Scott Bissell (Sherry); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Riverview Church, 3585 Willoughby Rd., Holt, Michigan 48842. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912; and Friday, January 17, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association: Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, 5303 S. Cedar St., Building 1, Lansing, MI 48911.
