Charlene Marie McLain went to be with the Lord January 26, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born August 18, 1937 in Fall River Massachusetts. Charlene worked for 35 years at the State Capitol in the State Legislature, the House of Representatives, and the Senate. She enjoyed her work and made many friends before retiring in 1998. She liked going to the casino and traveling with her husband Sidney to visit family and friends.
Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, Commander Leland Oscar and Alice Silvia Wilkie; husband, Sidney Homan; and grandson, Christian Skylar. Surviving to cherish her memory are her sons, Scott Lee and Christopher James McLain; daughter, Cheryl Ann Rosenburg, and their loved ones, Minette Lenon, Ericka McLain and William Reed; brothers, Leland Charles and Glen Anthony (Sharon) Wilkie; sister, LeeAnn (Donald) Grills and family; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews on the east coast. She devoted much of her time helping care for 8 grandchildren, Joshua (Joy) Carter, Jennifer Lee, Carly Brooke, Christopher David, Dustin Lee, Alxandrea Michelle, Haleigh Rosa, and Hunter Alyisha; 4 great grandchildren, Alyssa Lee, Julian Candiedo, Lily Odell, and Chloe Ryan; and close friends, Louise and Beverly.
Charlene was a wonderful, caring person and will be missed dearly by all.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 1:30 pm at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church 2 hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing.
