Charlene was born on June 1, 1953, in Lansing, Michigan, and attended Everett High School. She devoted 25 years to the East Lansing Health Center. Charlene was well known for her caring and compassionate nature, as well as her commitment to her family. She enjoyed her dogs (Coco and Mama), playing her coloring book games on her phone, camping, and pottery.
Charlene is survived by her children Tony Benavidez Jr. (Lisa); Rose Benavidez; Shawn Benavidez (Qing); and Homer Allen Jr. (Kesha); 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and long-time friend Ester White and sister-in-law Rose Washington.
Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Lee Allen Sr.; parents, Roy C. and Ilah M. Archer; and siblings, Beverly Wright and Clare Archer; son little Joe Benavidez.
The family of Charlene will be holding a memorial service in her honor at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes in Lansing, 900 E Michigan Ave. Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 10 am. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Charlene's life and legacy. The family also welcomes expressions of condolences to be sent to the Humane Society.
