Ulysses took an apprenticeship program with the Manitoba Department of Labor as a Plasterer. He graduated from this 4 year program on April 13th, 1955. He worked in many of the new schools that were being built in Manitoba in the following years. After moving to Vancouver, B.C. in 1966 he began working for Gallagher Brothers as a plasterer. He worked in the towers of English Bay and False Creek as Vancouver was growing. He eventually became a Drywaller as the work in plaster disappeared.
Ulysse built his first home in Manitoba after his marriage to Armande. They moved this home from Ste. Anne de Chenes to St. Boniface where he lived until the family moved to British Columbia. He was the neighbour who knew how to fix most things, and would always offer a helping hand.
He spent his retirement at Derby’s Reach fishing and enjoying the solitude. Ulysses also loved music and was a competent accordion player. He enjoyed cards games and playing pool. And we will never forget him for our family Crokinole games.
A celebration of life is planned for January 2025.
The family would like to thank the staff at Chartwell Crescent Gardens for their dedication in keeping our loved ones safe and happy in their final years.
