Ron (Ben) passed away August 31, 2020 at home in Fort Langley surrounded by his family.
He and his twin sister, Eileen, were born June 7, 1928 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maureen, daughters Pat (Lorrie) and Terry, grandchildren Treven (Cheryl), Lauren, Ben (Tsatia) and Del (Karissa), as well as siblings Eileen, Anita and Lyle and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ron was predeceased by 3 older siblings, Lola, Ken and Charles, and a younger brother, Garry.
Ron had a strong work ethic, beginning his work-life at a young age in Fort Saskatchewan. He enjoyed obtaining his private pilot’s license in Edmonton, Alberta. He married Maureen Stannard on July 17, 1953 and his two daughters were born while living in Fort Saskatchewan. He moved his family to Fort Langley, B.C. in 1964. Ron was active in the community where he helped with maintenance on the Fort Langley Hall and volunteered at May Day celebrations. He started a plumbing and heating business with a partner in Langley City called English and LePage. He later started his own company called R & M LePage and focussed on mechanical contracting of pump stations throughout B.C. He also worked as far north as Inuvik and south to Texas, USA. Many life long friendships developed from his work relationships.
Ron and Maureen enjoyed travelling many places in the world. In the early 1990’s, Ron acquired a retired GM highway bus which he converted into a motor home. They spent many years travelling south for a few months each winter.
Ron was well know for his sense of humour and enjoyed many “get togethers” with family and friends where he would give his legendary cheers - “First today in this position”.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
