Maureen passed away June 27, 2022 at home in Fort Langley surrounded by her family.
Maureen was born on August 21, 1930 in Macklin, Saskatchewan.
She was predeceased by Ron, her husband of 67 years, and her four siblings Jack, Bubs, Joe and Donald. Maureen is survived by her daughters Pat (Lorrie) and Terry and her grandchildren Treven (Cheryl), Lauren, Ben (Tsatia) and Del (Karissa) as well as her cousins Shirley, Sherril, John and David and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Maureen grew up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and became a grade one teacher. She married Ron on July 17, 1953. Her two daughters were born while living in Fort Saskatchewan before the couple moved their family to Fort Langley, B.C. in 1964.
Maureen taught grade one at West Langley Elementary for several years and then became a docent at the Langley Centennial Museum where she was instrumental in developing the docent program. Her service of over 40 years was recognized in 2015 with the Eric Flowerdew Volunteer Award of Merit. Maureen also served on the board of the Langley Association for Community Living for several years and was a leader, and then commissioner, of the Girl Guides of Canada. She was a member of the Anglican Church Women for 70 years, first in Alberta and then at St. George’s Church in Fort Langley. In her later years, she enjoyed playing bridge with friends.
Maureen and Ron enjoyed travelling many places in the world. In the early 1990’s, Ron converted a retired GM highway bus into a motorhome and they spent many years travelling south with friends for a few months each winter.
Maureen enjoyed the many “get togethers” at her home with family and friends. She is “gone from our sight, but never from our hearts”.
