In 1945, Hans, his mother, and sister took flight from Oppeln and moved to Bamberg.
In 1956, as a single mother, Veronica, Hans and his older sister Edeltraut sailed across the water to immigrate to Canada.
They landed in Winnipeg not knowing a word of English and tried their best to make it their new home.
Hans married at the age of 18. He and his wife Maria had four children. While the children were still young he moved his family across the country to British Columbia where they settled in Langley and he lived the rest of his life in the house he and his family built in Brookswood.
He started working for Langley welding where he worked hard so that he could open his own business as a machinist in the Langley industrial park and kept it running for almost 50 years.
He loved fishing, soccer, football, music, dancing in the German club, and having a drink with his good friends.
His door was always open and he was willing to help anyone who asked.
Hans spent the last 9 months in a care home as he could no longer care for himself. On September 12, 2022 Hans was surrounded by the ones he loved most and on September 13, 2022 Hans took his last breath with his daughter by his side.
We love and miss you Dad.
May you Rest In Peace.
