Eunice Audrey Thompson

Eunice was born in England and grew up in wartime London, Stilton and Peterborough. She came to Canada in 1948 and settled, with her mother, in the Cloverdale – White Rock area. She worked at the Bank of Montreal in White Rock and while working there met her future husband Walter (“Punch”) Thompson. Eunice and Punch were married for 55 years and raised four children while living in Ottawa, White Rock, New Westminster, Crescent Beach and Coquitlam. They finally settled in Langley in 1978. Eunice and Punch remained resident in Langley until their deaths.

Eunice worked as an artist, an actress and a salesperson, as well as being a devoted homemaker. She was active in many volunteer organizations including Parent/Teacher organizations, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and the Vagabond Players Club. In her 50s Eunice started her own travel business and travelled to many places across the globe. Eunice and Punch spent many cherished winters in Maalaea, Maui, where they walked daily along Sugar Beach. Eunice was a loyal, proud, and beloved spouse, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Eunice was predeceased by her husband Punch in 2005, and their daughter Jane Thompson in 1988. She is survived by her children, Judy Wise (Ray), Jill Blaylock, David Thompson (Barb); her son-in-law Jeff Scouten, her daughter-in-law Angela McQuade; her grandchildren Amy (Mike), Katherine (David), Caroline (Jarrett), Stephanie (Matthew), Scott, Samantha (Tom), Breanna (Phil), Sarah (Antoine), Jacob (Stephanie), Anna, Jordan, and Taylor; her great-grandchildren Benjamin, Elizabeth, and Jake; and numerous nieces and nephews. Eunice will be missed by all of them and more.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Rosewood Care home, particularly Richard Peters, who provided Eunice with great care during the latter portion of her life, as well as Michelle Foulkes who provided much assistance to Eunice during her final year.

A celebration of Eunice’s life for family and friends will take place at 2:00 pm January 20th, at the Fort Langley Golf Course, 9782 McKinnon Crescent, Langley, BC.
