With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Darlene Clifton, on February 3, 2023, after a 10 month battle with Small Cell Lung Cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Doug, her daughter Liz (Shawn), her granddaughters Jennifer (Taylor) and Ally (Kass), her sister Tena (Greg) and her nephews, niece, great nieces and nephews, and many extended family, who all miss her dearly.
Darlene is pre-deceased and reunited with her parents George and Blanche and many of her beloved pets including Sammy, Cindy, Vern and Susie. At her diagnosis, Darlene set goals, to fight as hard as she could to see her granddaughter's wedding and to see her 70th birthday. She did both with style, grace and flair.
A member of the Vancouver Deaf Community, Darlene grew up as a student at Jericho Hill School for the Deaf where she made and maintained many lifelong friendships. Darlene was a swimmer, a member of the curling club, and an avid crafter. She loved camping, travelling in their RV, tending to her garden, and was often sharing her baked goods with her family.
Special thanks to Dr. C. Lee, Dr. Lund and their teams at the Surrey BC Cancer Centre, the wonderful nurses in 2South at Langley Memorial Hospital and the amazing Langley Hospice Residence that took wonderful care of Darlene during her courageous fight and final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the early Spring and her ashes will be scattered at a later date, when her husband is ready to join her.
