It is with the utmost sadness that we announce that Colin Morris passed away in the evening of June 2019 in the care of exceptional nurses and physicians at Abbotsford Regional Hospital Palliative Complex Care Unit. Colin was such a unique person that there are no words to describe how much he brought into this world and the sense of loss he leaves behind. Colin was born in New Plymouth, NZ in 1948 and moved to Canada in 1971 as an independent young man making his way into our world here on his own terms. He worked as a mechanic on arrival in Canada, started his first business Morris Mechanical, and then for many years was a Director and Shareholder of Western Wood Preservers in Aldergrove, BC.
Colin was the eldest son of Reginald and Thelma Morris (deceased). He had 5 siblings, Fay, Pauline, Peter, Ken and Judy whom while apart in distance always retained the heart of family and friendship.
Colin had three children, Steven (Leslie), Jaime (Tom) and Stacey and eight grandchildren Hailey, Riley, Sienna, Taylor, and Lane and Thomas, Charleigh, and Marshall, all of whom he was so proud of loved sharing his passions with.
Colin met Cindy in 1997 and the two were joined and never apart. After twenty two years of partnership and a life of absolute love, happiness and adventure they married in the lounge of the hospital unit close to where Colin passed a few days later.
While Colin had a passion for everything available in life including barefoot water skiing, piloting his Cessna 172, building and driving his jet boats, riding his Harleys, being the first one down skiing or snowboarding on the ski slopes, riding his Banchee in the trails or sand dunes, hunting and fishing in remote areas, exploring and camping in tent or RV, snowmobiling, nurturing his trumpet plants or fixing, creating or building something that no one else had thought of or was capable of, Colin over-filled the top of his bucketlist with designing the manufacture of his Funco sandcar and ripping up sand in the Glamis dunes. He then finally realized his life long dream of being a race car driver at Area27 racetrack and received life long distinction of Driver of the Year in 2016, Ironman in 2018 and Radical Canada West Cup Championship in 2018.
However, beyond all his activity and passions Colin was most happy sharing himself and his passions with family, friends and anyone he came into contact with.
Colin leaves his beloved partner and wife Cindy Robertson; his children Steven (& Leslie) Morris, Jaime (& Tom) Grozier, and Stacey Morris; his siblings Fay (&Ray) Parsons, Pauline (& Gary) Mawson, Peter (& Bridget) Morris, Ken (& Julie) Morris, and Judy Morris, and his eight grandchildren and ten nieces and nephews. Colin was such an amazing man that it is unbelievable that he is not here to continue to show us the way of how to live life to the fullest. He would be the first to say this is not goodbye as he always wanted to see each one of us again.
The family of Colin invite you to a celebration of his life at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2019 at Newlands Golf and Country Club, 21025 48th Ave, Langley, BC.
There will also be a celebration of Colin’s life as a member, race car driver and friend of Area27 at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the Area27 Clubhouse, Oliver, BC and a duner get together in the fall of 2019 at the Glamis Dunes.
Flowers may be sent the morning of July 22 to Newlands Golf and Country Club and/or in lieu of flowers a donation would be greatly appreciated by the FVHC Foundation in support of the Palliative Complex Care Unit at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital or by the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation in support of new surgical urology equipment.
