Robert “Bob” William Harmon, 91 of Lancaster passed away on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 at the Pickering House. Bob was born into a loving Christian family at home in Graysville, Ohio on February 23rd, 1931 to Virgil William and Lora Ethel (Hall) Harmon, both of Graysville, Ohio in Monroe County. An eighth generation American with great greats in the Revolutionary War and great grandfathers in the Civil War. Ancestors of both parents were early pioneers, some coming in the 1600’s, and many settling in the Ohio Territory in what is now Monroe County.
Bob graduated from Corning High School in 1949 and graduated from Ohio University in 1953. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953. He was employed as a mechanical engineer and retired from Sakas Inc. He was a long standing member of the First United Methodist Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Jean (Hixenbaugh) Harmon; his parents, Virgil and Ethel (Hall) Harmon; sister, Norma (Harmon) Clark; and niece, Barbara (Harmon) Gualtieri.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Durst) Harmon of 6 years; son, David N. (Lori) Harmon, of New Lexington; daughters, Karen S. Zoll of Forest, and Kathi K. (Craig) Iden of Cardington; grandchildren, Jessica (Dustin) Stansbery and Shawna Zoll; great-grandchildren, Adreina and Rowan Stansbery; brother, Kenneth (Leah) Harmon; brother in law, Richard Clark, and several nephews, nieces, and friends.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life is to take place on Saturday, February 18th, 2023 at 1PM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Cheryl Foulk officiating. Friends may visit from 11AM-1PM on the day of the services. Private burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lancaster.
