whole life seeking to fulfill his purpose, whether through family, work, or service to his country
and community, his heart grew tired and finally came to rest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Freeda DeLong, his brother and sister-in-law Lowell and Rhoda Dell DeLong, and brother-in-law George Feisel.
He leaves behind to miss him and try to live up tohis legacy his wife, Barbara, his sister, Karen Feisel, his children, Julie (David) Helmers and David (Brenda) DeLong, his grandchildren, Brian (Kaitlyn) DeLong, Claire (Sean) Oswald, Kurt Helmers, and Paul Helmers, his great-grandchildren Emma and Chase DeLong, and treasured extended family.
He was retired from Diamond Power Specialty Corp. where he worked for 41 years. He served for two years in the U.S. Navy, a time that he remembered fondly for the rest of his life. He served as President of the United Way, built houses for Habitat for Humanity, and served on a Citizens Advisory Board for the City of Lancaster as well as being ready and willing to help anyone in need.
A Celebration of Life service will be planned at a later date. Please, no flowers. Any donations should go to one of the above organizations or to the American Heart Association.
