James Joseph “Joe” Kemmerer, 73, passed away at his home Saturday, July 13, 2024. Born November 13, 1950, to Richard and Dorothy Kemmerer, Joe was a ‘68 graduate of Fairfield Union High School and happily lived his entire life in Fairfield County. Joe owned and operated JJ Kemmerer Grading and Excavating for nearly 50 years and served as a Pleasant Township Trustee for the past 30 years. A man of many talents, Joe loved old cars and tractors and could fix just about anything – he loved to work hard, be with his family, and do things the right way.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Diana (Rarick) Kemmerer, daughter, McKensey, son, Tyler (Rebecca), and three grandchildren, James, Elise, and Eleanor. Affectionately known as “Scrappy” by his siblings, Joe is child #10 of the large Kemmerer clan of 14 children. He is survived by Janet, Russ, Ken, Jon, Marvin, Bob, Randy, Rob and Cindy, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and more. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Rita, and brothers Kermit, Larry, and Ric.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home. A visitation will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Funeral services at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Chapel Church of God, 3225 Old Mill Road NE, Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Burial will follow at Zeigler Cemetery, Lancaster.
