Helena “Lee” (Holliday) Wagner, age 98 of Millersport, passed away Friday September 1, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 18, 1924 in Hebron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Azle and Mary (Buker) Holliday. Lee worked at the Buckeye Lake Amusement Park during high school. After graduation from Hebron High School in 1942, she was employed by General Electric as a switchboard operator and receptionist in Zanesville. While raising her family, she became active in her local communities. Lee was proud to be one of the first squad ladies in Ohio with the Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department. Additionally, she was a member of Pleasantville UMC, a founding member of the Pleasantville Sociables, and served as Brownie, Girl Scout, and Cub Scout den leader for several years. Lee loved spending time with family and friends. She was a competitive bridge player, an avid bingo player, played all types of card games and enjoyed watching the Buckeyes throughout the years. Lee is survived by her son, Don (Teresa) Wagner, daughter, Becky Carpenter, granddaughters; Jessica Wagner, Jenna Wagner, step-granddaughter, Kasey (Carpenter) Graves, sister, Relna (Holliday) Flanagan, sister-in-law, Betty Tisdale, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lee is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wagner with whom she had celebrated 70 years of marriage, son-in-law, Raymond Carpenter; brothers, Gene Tisdale, Donald Bowen and Fred Holliday, sisters, Nola (Holliday) Sims and Caryl (Holliday) Smith.
The biggest highlights of Lee’s life were her children and grandchildren who she loved dearly. All will miss her tremendously. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday September 7, 2023 with Pastor Doug Lynn officiating at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home. Friends may call 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Walnut Township Fire Department (12200 Lancaster St, Millersport OH 43046) in Lee’s memory. The family appreciated the assistance from the medic personnel over the years.
