Irene loved to travel and had the opportunity of a lifetime to go to Israel with a group from her church. Upon arriving Irene and a friend were told, because of their age, they could not stay with the group. The Jewish culture protects the elderly, who are referred to as softies. They were taken to a Kibbutz a 2 hour trip on a bus up in the mountains. (There is a photo album on the table for anyone who would like to look at it.) When her son James was in the Military, she had another wonderful opportunity to travel with him and his family to Italy.
Irene was blessed with four children and eight grandchildren: Debra Lynn, Donald James, Rhonda Marie and James Merritt.
