Thomas J. Donahue, 80, passed away on August 4, 2010 in Ocean Medical Center. Born on August 16, 1929. Mr. Donahue was born in Jersey City, he moved to Tinton Falls in 1968, then to Whiting in 2000, before finally settling down in Leisure Park in Lakewood for the past year. A Korean war veteran, Thomas served in the Army’s 159th Division as a supply sergeant from 1951-1953. An avid man of faith, Thomas was active as an usher at our Lady of Victory church in Jersey City, a communicant of St. Dorethea’s in Eatontown and recently at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Thomas was also a former Holy Name Society Member.
Survivors: Thomas is predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Rose(DeRosa) in 2000 and a sister Gen Bennett. Surviving are his sister Ruth Bollhardt of Forked River, six children Rosemary Donahue and Larry Delbaggio of Old Tappan, Lucille Donahue and Dawn Colapietro of Ocean Grove, Patricia and Thomas Deverin of Fords, Marianne Donahue, Thomas and Lynne Donahue and Eileen and Patrick Duffy all of Howell and his nine grandchildren that Thomas was most proud of: Erin, Kevin, and Timothy Donahue, Patrick, Shannon and Amanda Duffy, Michael and Daniel Deverin, and Matthew Del Baggio, also surviving is his loving companion Margaret Ferrity. Poppie will be greatly missed and remembered always. We’ll miss laughing at his jokes, sharing his chocolates, and his sparkling blue eyes.
Services: A viewing will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00PM to 9:00PM on Friday, August 6, 2010 at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday August 7, 2010 at St. Luke’s Church in Lakewood at 9:15am. Interment will take place at the Shoreland Memorial Park in Hazlet, NJ.
