Theodore (Teddy) McDonald, 85, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2021 at Imperial Healthcare Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Neptune, New Jersey. He was born January 11, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York, as the son of Marion and Theodore McDonald. He was a resident of Brooklyn most of his life, until relocating to Lakewood, New Jersey, where he lived until recently moving to Neptune, New Jersey. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and husband. He leaves behind his two daughters, Karen Trezza (Cono) and Dawn McDonald, his three grandchildren (Luca Trezza, Lidia Resto and Christian Trezza), his brother, Robert (Karen), Michelle (niece), Allison (niece) and Tommy (nephew). Rafaella, Francesca and Bianca Trezza held a very special place in Teddy’s heart. He was predeceased in death by his wife, Diane, in 2013. Teddy was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He served his country with the US Marines from 1955 to 1961. He worked with New York’s Finest for 24 years in Emergency Services Truck 1 (Manhattan) and the 61 Precinct (Brooklyn), where he retired from in 1981. He was a hard-working man. After his shifts with NYPD, he would work at Brennan and Carr (his favorite roast beef place) to provide for his family. After retiring from the police force, Teddy also worked as private security for the Helmsley’s and the New York City District Council of Carpenters. Teddy was very active in the community and little league in Bergen Beach where he raised his two girls. He was one of the most loved and respected umpires then and still is until this day. The boys still talk about “Mr. McDonald”. He made his wife and girls proud. A memorial visitation for Theodore will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, New Jersey 08701. A prayer service will close the visiting hours at 1:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
