Samantha L. Sullivan, 36 passed away suddenly on March 8, 2020 in her home. Born on February 2, 1984 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Samantha and her family moved back to Jersey City, New Jersey where she spent her childhood; later moving to Carteret/Port Reading area of NJ. She was a 2002 Bishop Ahr alumni and earned her bachelor’s degree in education at Rutgers University. Samantha then continued her education by obtaining a Reading Specialist Certification and a Masters from Jersey City University. She had a passion for teaching and began her career at St. Aloysius School in Jersey City. She was currently teaching at Columbus Elementary in Carteret, N.J. Samantha was also the Girl Scout Troop leader for Troop 83547.
Samantha had a love for sports. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, former softball player and also played woman’s semi professional football for the Jersey Justice. Influenced by her father’s love of music, Samantha was a huge Grateful Dead fan. She had a love for all music- attending concerts whenever she could. To know Sully was to love Sully. She was very proud to be a Sullivan and what her Irish heritage meant to her. Her home was an open door for all, “where songs filled the air”. Samantha loved spending time with family and friends. She was the kindest person you could know, an amazing friend to all and always had a smile on her face. She is pre-deceased by her father Michael Sullivan, her grandmother Janet Eggers, her grandmother Josephine Sullivan, her aunt JoAnn Sullivan. She is survived by her mother, Tracey Eggers-Stankunas and grandfather John Eggers, her brother Jack Stankunas and brother Michael Jerome Sullivan, and step-father Joe Stankunas. Her God parents, Susie and Brian Sullivan. She is also survived by her love, Stephanie Sebok. She will be greatly missed by all her cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, colleagues, students, Ellisfam and extended family. There are no words to describe how missed she will be by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 3pm to 7pm Chubenko Funeral Home, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading NJ 07064. On March 18, 2020, relatives and friends will be received at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701, from 2 to 4 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. in the D'Elia Funeral Home.
