Robert is survived by his wife Patricia of 39 years, his step daughters; Sharon Watson, Mary G. Mey (Roger), Patricia A. Loren (Neil), Jane Coughran (Robert), William J. Goertz (Bonnie), his step daughter in law; Elena Goertz and his cousin; Dr. George Weinbaum (Carol). His dear grandchildren; Christopher Nolan, Andrew LeRoy, Kristen Mey, Marissa Mey, Sarah Coughran, Alexa Goertz, Joseph Goertz, Nicole Goertz, Ryan Goertz and Jaryd Gordon. Robert is also survived by one great grandchild; Lily LeRoy as well as several nieces and nephews.
Robert is predeceased by his parents; Simon and Rose Gordon, his son; Jeffrey Scott Gordon and his Stepson; Joseph W. Goertz.
Bob was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and went to Brooklyn Technical High School. After graduating he went on to attend the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy, shortly after finishing his degree he was drafted into the Unident States Army in 1955.
Bob was proud of his service to his country and after he was honorably discharged he completed his Masters degree at Purdue University obtaining his masters in Pharmacology. After which he received his PHD at George Washington University Medical School.
Bob devoted 35 years to his pharmacology work, some of his most notable achievements were his research for heart arrhythmia and epilepsy in children and young adults in which he helped in developing 2 medications; Bepridel and Felbamate.
Outside of work Bob loved to coach, play and watch soccer, he was an avid chess player and New York Giants Fan and most importantly spend time with his family.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 16th, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery located at; 1 Honey Locust St, Lakewood, NJ 08701
