Rita Ann Fleckenstein

Rita Ann Fleckenstein, 85, passed away peacefully May 30, 2017 with her loving daughter by her side in her home in Howell. Mrs. Fleckenstein was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois, where she was a graduate of Millikin University class of 1955. Mrs. Fleckenstein was a teacher in the Lakewood and Howell school systems, retiring in 1991. Rita was very active in the Girl Scouts and the CCD program at Holy Family and St. Mary of the Lake Church of Lakewood. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Fleckenstein was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Herbert Joseph Fleckenstein, 8 brothers including her twin brother Raymond, and 4 sisters. Rita is survived by her three sons, Gregory and his wife Bonnie, Steven and Christopher and his wife Kelly, three daughters, Teresa Meinero and her husband Jared, MaryAnn Fleckenstein, and Ann Stuart and her husband James, 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 on the way, and sister Theresa Couch and her husband Don. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 10-11AM at the D’Elia Funeral Home 1300 Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 12 Noon at the St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood. Entombment will take place at the St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. Rita’s family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Meridian Hospice for their loving care.
