I’m so sorry for your loss and my condolences. Nicklas was a good police Officer and he did incredible and spectacular work. Although I didn’t know him very well from when used to traffic for the Lakewood Blue Claws games. Nick was very good friend of mine and I’ll miss him very much. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I am beyond words.  I remember visiting Jeannette and Rob in the hospital as new parents  to Nicklas. They were in awww.  Jeannette was so excited as a new mom, I remember her saying "I am going to put him in modeling" (new Gerber baby).  Well, he didn't make it, but I remember driving down Route 9 and there Nicklas was with Jeannette on a huge billboard. Of course I called Jeannette and said "OMG  I just saw you and Nicklas on a billboard on Route 9!" I wish we had camera phones then.  I would have loved to share that photo.  To the entire family,  my deepest condolences and so many prayers during this difficult time.  Rest in Heaven Angel Nicklas Shimonovich

Beloved in his home town of Jackson and deeply appreciated in Lakewood for his honorable, selfless service, Nick's tragic death reminds us anew of the precious gift of life and the profound, positive impact a law enforcement officer—and in this case a law enforcement family—has on our individual safety and well-being. We are forever grateful for Nick's dedicated public service and note the extraordinary support and admiration he earned in such a relatively short lifetime.

Our sincere condolences to the Shimonovich family and to all at the Lakewood Police Department

I’d like to look on the happier side of knowing him and appreciating his presence while I had it, he always made it his priority to be there for me, I was in the hospital quite a bit for suicide attempts, the first night of knowing me I wouldn’t talk to any other officers and he walked in and asked me what a “beautiful young lady like you is doing to yourself and your mother?” I talked to him, he had a trusting smile and just a warm welcome, it felt like he cared, I remember that night he tried going into the ambulance me because my mom couldn’t she was driving up behind me, and the hospital told him he couldn’t he tried asking once more and they responded the same, he drove up to the hospital himself, and made sure to comfort me while he could. We talked and I honestly just wish he knew he saved my life, he made a difference and I’ve been off medication for about 5 months now, it’s been over a year since I hurt myself. I wish he could’ve seen me at my best and not my worst, but no one usually wants to be the moon to shine on people’s darkest hours and he was. He will be missed dearly, I’m sending my love and condolences.

I am so sorry.  I will always remember how kind, gentle,  and sweet Nick was when he entered a room.   He was so friendly and always smiling as he walked the halls of JMHS.    I remember talking with him about one day becoming a police officer.  I knew he would always find success and I am so proud of him.  Family was so important to him and he simply loved life.  Nick made this world a better place and his Jaguar family will never forget him.  Please know I am here for you (Leo) and only a phone call away.

I had competed against Nick on several occasions throughout our high school wrestling careers. Nick was always the most respectful and kind opponent. I am saddened by the loss of such a well respected and loved individual to his community and family.
