Marjorie Laura Felton

Marjorie Laura Paige Felton, daughter of the late Carney Paige and Della Overton Paige was born September 8, 1916 in Elizabeth, NC. She quietly departed this life on Tuesday morning, August 4, 2015 at her home in Lakewood, New Jersey.

At an early age, she joined St. James Baptist Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and attended elementary and high school in Pasquotank County, North Carolina. She attended State Teachers' College in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and graduated in the first four year class in 1939. While attending college in North Carolina she met and married Jacob Sylvester Felton on December 24, 1938. They were blessed with two children.

Her teaching career started in a one room school house in North Carolina, and continued in the 600 schools in New York City. She eventually ended her Special Education teaching career from the Greenburgh School District in Dobbs Ferry New York. She taught there for over 30 years and retired in 1979. While teaching in Dobbs Ferry she received and completed a full grant Masters Degree in Special Education from Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son Osceola D. Felton & daughter Janice Jessamy; daughter-in-law Jacqueline, grandsons Kimani, Jamal & Osceola Jr., great grandson Oscelle, two nephews Maxwell and Eric Paige and a host of relatives and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held in celebration of her life on Tuesday from 4-7PM at D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood. A service will be held in conjunction with the visitation at 6PM. For more information, or to post a tribute online, please visit www.deliafuneralhome.com.
