John Andrew Fossa, Sr., age 78, of the The Fairways at Lake Ridge section of Lakewood, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River, NJ. John was born on July 2, 1944, in Bronx, New York to Josephine "Jaye" (Cariati) and John Fossa. John attended Theodore Roosevelt High School before furthering his education at Hunter-Lehman College and Pace University in New York, NY. In 1967, he joined the US Army Reserve. John married his wife Connie on June 29, 1968. John was a member of the New York Times 30 Year Club and the American Legion Post #166. His hobbies included travel, the Railroad Club, collecting Lionel trains, Plastic Ville and Coins. He also enjoyed watching Sci Fi, Blue Bloods, and the History Channel late at night. He was a former Cub Scouts Leader for Pack 159 in Lakewood, NJ. John was an excellent provider for his family and was employed for over 40 years by the New York Times. He and his wife Connie shared many memories of love, laughter, and good times with their family and good friends in Lakewood over the last 50 years. Son of the late Josephine "Jaye" and John Fossa; and brother of the late Jolene Peretta; John is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Constance Fossa (Cronan); a son, John Andrew Fossa, Jr. and his wife Christina; along with their children, Naomi, Gwen, Noble, Arrow and Benjamin, a daughter, Megan Zuzic and her husband Petar; a niece, Tracey Borsos and her children, Katelyn, Lauren, and Daniel; a nephew, Michael Peretta; and his Grand-dogs, Maeve and Rory. Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022 at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 43 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. The committal service will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood, N.J. There are no services actually scheduled for Thursday and there will be a day in between the visitation and the funeral mass.
