Jeanette Alice Franck Taylor (Jan) passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at her home in Freehold. Born to Adam and Alice Franck on February 9, 1938 in Montclair, NJ she was raised in Livingston and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1956.Her uncle George worked on the family farm where he purchased a horse (Champion) for Jan which she rode all over rural Livingston.
Jan met Joe Taylor on a blind date in 1955 setup by Joe’s cousin, Alice Bramhall, who rode horseback with Jan. Upon Joe’s graduation from FDU in 1959 Jan and Joe married June 13. They had two daughters Christina Lee and Tracy Noelle, while residing in Boonton, NJ.
Jan had a creative touch with flowers working for Shorck in Livingston, Rocky’s in Boonton, Smith’s and Olson’s in Upper Montclair, NJ. She decorated at holiday time the mansions in Upper Montclair plus provided a centerpiece arrangement for Life Magazine cover. Jan created a successful lecturing and floral designing business that had her traveling to women’s clubs in NJ and NY.
The Alter Guild of St. Peter’s Church, Mt. Lakes NJ was on of Jan’s treasured organizations which also included management of the church’s 50th year celebration.
Living close to NYC, 25 minutes gave Jan the opportunity to enjoy Broadway shows, NY landmarks, fine restaurants, and city events.
Jan teamed with Joe in his electronics systems sales “Taylor Marketing Associates, Inc.” as independent sales representatives traveling the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, England, Hawaii, and France for over 15 years. They formed a successful husband and wife sales team providing many systems for the medical, security, manufacturing, and police/fire organizations.
She had the pleasure of traveling to the British Virgin Islands 14 times bareboat sailing, diving and snorkeling with friends and family. Jan and Joe raced sailboats in Toms River and the Barnegat Bay from 1978-2014, receiving many regatta trophies. Their eight boats started with Sunfish, graduating to a 42 foot Hunter center cockpit sloop. ZIG ZAG was the sailboat name placed on many of their boats.
Jan is survived by her beloved husband Joe and her daughters Christina Ventimiglia and her husband, Jim of Toms River and Tracy Taylor and her partner Gregg Herzfeld of South Plainfield. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Michael and Amanda and great-granddaughter Mya.
