Born in East Orange, she grew up in Rahway and later moved to Edison in 1959 before settling in Lakewood in 1995.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Melville Joseph Cashin and her husband of 54 years, Archibald K. McIntyre.
Prior to retiring, Betty owned and operated a typing transcription service for court stenographers while living in Edison. She was an accomplished homemaker and especially enjoyed cooking and gardening. She loved participating in Four Seasons social activities with her friends, and as a widow was an active member of the singles club. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Betty is survived by her 2 daughters: Diane McDevitt of Louisville, KY, and Jean Maines and her husband John of Jackson; 5 grandchildren: Galen Drury, Stacey Wildt and her husband Donnie, Jessica Marshall, Timothy Maines and his wife Jaimie and Jennifer Timko; and 5 great-grandsons. She will be sadly missed by her closest and dearest friend, Sue Pisapia, who was of immeasurable help to the family during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10AM at D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood. Interment will follow at Rahway Cemetery, Rahway.
