Born in Brooklyn, he resided in Hazlet before settling in Lakewood 20 years ago.
Prior to retiring, he was a typographer for Empire Typographers in New York City. He also worked as a school bus driver, and most recently, he was a driver for Enterprise Cars. Barry was an Army veteran, having honorably served during the Korean War. He will be remembered by his family as the strongest man they knew, with a heart of gold.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Myrna; his children: Eileen Silverstein and her husband Larry, Ivy Gaul and her husband Denis, Fredric Kaplan, and Karen Bruno and her husband Bob; 6 grandchildren: Amanda, Andrew, Dana, Kate and her husband Joe, Brandon, and Mikayla; and his dear cousin, Peter Weiss.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 9:30am at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood. A committal service will immediately follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
