He attended small town grade school and graduated from Ringwood High School. He did farm work and iron foundry work in Enid Oklahoma and helped support the family. After high school he attended Enid Business College, majoring in accounting and graduated with an associate's degree. Job opportunities were available in the oil business and as he was preparing his job search, the draft called. He got his conscientious objector classification and went to Denver Colorado for a job at Rose Memorial Hospital where he met his wife, Myrna. They were married in 1966.
He got into his career with 3M company in Denver Colorado in inventory control. He worked for 3M for 20 years. When the company closed the warehouse and left Denver, he took several other jobs taking him to retirement.
Two sons were born in Denver Colorado. David in 1970 and Andrew in 1973. Bob was active in church life, especially accompanying youth on weekend ski trips. His outdoor enjoyment was camping, biking, skiing, running and hiking, and travel in later years
Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Myrna; son Andrew (Katherine) of Highlands Ranch Colorado; brother Dennis of Greeley Colorado; brother Merlyn (Jan) of Greeley Colorado. He was preceded in death by his beloved son David and by his parents.
There will be a private family memorial at Roberts home located at 2693 South Johnson Circle, Lakewood, CO 80227, at 9:00 AM, with a public open house to follow at 2:00 PM in the afternoon. Refreshments will be provided.
