Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Eldon, “Corky” Allen; and her Sister Marilyn Close. She is survived by her brother Ernesto Kemper and his wife Trisha; Her daughter Pam Allen and her life partner Marco Vigil, Pam’s family includes Patricia’s grandchildren, Sarah DePrinzio and her Husband Derek; James Hopson and his wife Taree, and their children (Patricia’s Grandchildren; Hunter, Dakota, and Delilah.; Patricia’s son Steve Allen and his wife Janiece and their children Charles Crabtree, and Travis and Daniel Allen; Patricia’s son Kirk Allen and his wife Dennis and their daughters Elise and Megan.
Patricia was a loving wife and mother who was an active volunteer her whole life helping others including through The Kempe Foundation, Easter Seals, March of Dimes, Campfire Girls, her Church, and was an active part of helping Lakewood, CO become a city. She took her turn as the President of the Colorado Genealogy Society and was active for decades helping convert old newspaper and other handwritten records to a more accessible medium.
Patricia was an avid reader and although she did not attend college she was well read and articulated her beliefs clearly and concisely enough to be featured regularly on the editorial pages of the Rocky Mountain News (remember them?) and the Denver Post. Pat had read every Agatha Christy book and knew Hercule Poirot like an old friend. She also read most everything Zane Grey wrote and was a well learned student of history.
She tirelessly walked our neighborhood at the time March of Dimes etc. passed around an “Envelope” for people to donate. It connected her to the neighbors and fulfilled her desire to give of herself. She endured Decades of youth sports and in later years enjoyed traveling with Corky taking Kirk to pursue his passion for cycling. Though she wasn’t always a huge Broncos’ fan when she and Corky attended their home games via season tickets; she discovered that watching all the “local boys”, the Broncos, Rockies. Nuggets, and Avalanche from the comfort of a recliner was great.
I believe her greatest joy came from watching her children grow into adults and bring her their fruits in the form of Grand and Great Grandchildren. That was what she considered her legacy. After all she was a Genealogist and understood the lessons of the past and the value of the next generations, Well done MOM!!!
She had a strong tie to her faith and was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and now has her everlasting reward.
